My new Jewelry Class

I'm excited about a new path I'm on. I registered @ Oakland County Community College on September 10, 2010. I had a list of classes I was interested in. My top being a Video editing class. Yes you heard me right. I fell in love with video editing when I made a home video from my Granddaughter Birthday celebration. I wanted to take it a step further. My second choice was a metal-smith class, so when I went to register for class, I was informed, that the video editing class had already started and the jewelry class was available. I was excited about the metal-smith's class. This class will allow me to make unique sterling silver clip on earrings and other fine metal jewelry. This will be a class of challenge, being that everything I've learned about jewelry making I was self taught and spiritually lead. I can't wait to get to class!

Jewelry designers.....Sign your jewelry

It's difficult to have your signature on all your jewelry designs when you're starting out. Generally starting out you're working with a small budget and need to refrain from buying all the jewelry findings you see. It's okay, as long as you use them. I've been creating jewelry since 1989, and I still find jewelry findings I've purchased from years ago and haven't used. At times while going through my inventory, I chuckle when I come across them. Getting back to signature designs, the best way to do it is to create a signature line of jewelry. A signature line of jewelry can be a favored design or designs with your signature; I've created both lines. A more favored design can be identified by your customers or one of your favorite picks. Remember when you identify it, let your customers know which design is your signature design and which are just signed and dated. I named this design "All Inclusive."   You have your necklace and Clip on earrings combined.  You truly have to "Dare to be Different" to wear this.  You don't necessarily have to clip to your ears, you can clip to your clothing as well.  Something that's true about clip on earrings.  You can also wear the clip as a button hole cover, Clip to your collar, the back of a dress, shoe ornaments etc.  How many ways can you think of?
